CPI.1  The student uses employability skills to gain an entry-level job in a high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand field.  The student is expected to:
    (A)  identify employment opportunities;
    (B)  demonstrate the application of essential workplace skills in the career acquisition process;
    (C)  develop a personal resumé;
    (D)  complete job search documents, including job applications and I-9 and W-4 forms;
    (E)  demonstrate proper interview techniques in various situations;
    (F)  create and complete appropriate documents such as electronic portfolio, employment application, letter of intent, and thank you letters.
CPI.9  The student identifies skills and attributes necessary for professional advancement. The student is expected to:
    (A)  evaluate and compare employment options, including salaries and benefits;
    (B)  compare rewards and demands for various levels of employment in a variety of careers;
    (C)  determine how interests, abilities, personal priorities, and family responsibilities affect career choices;
    (D)  determine continuing education opportunities that enhance career advancement and promote lifelong learning.

    (E)  identify the academic and technical entry requirements for employment in various high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand occupations;
    (F)  identify and pursue opportunities, available in high school and post secondary, to acquire the necessary academic and technical skills for employment in high-skill, high-wage, or
                high-demand occupations
    (G)  evaluate the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees;
    (H)  apply money-management and financial-planning techniques.

PFL.15 College and postsecondary education and training. The student recognizes the costs and benefits of various types of college,
    postsecondary education, and training. The student is expected to:
    (A) analyze the relationship between education and training and earnings;
    (B) identify types of costs associated with college, postsecondary education, and training;
    (C) compare costs among postsecondary education and training institutions such as public universities, private universities, certification programs, and community colleges; and
    (D) analyze the quality of education investment using measures such as academic reputation, selectivity and rigor in a chosen area of study, average starting salary of students graduating in
         chosen field, and likelihood of student graduation.
PFL.16 College and postsecondary education and training. The student understands various options for paying for college, postsecondary education, and training. The student is expected to:
    (A) understand how, why, and when to complete grant and scholarship applications and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) provided by the U.S. Department of Education;
    (B) research various sources of funds for postsecondary education and training, including student loans, grants and scholarships, and other sources such as work-study and military programs; and
    (C) analyze the advantages and disadvantages of various sources of funds for postsecondary education and training, including student loans, grants and scholarships, and other sources such as work-study
          and military programs.
E.21 Personal financial literacy. The student understands the various methods available to pay for college and other
postsecondary education and training.  The student is expected to:
    (A) Understand how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) provided by the United States Department of Education.
    (B) Research and evaluate various scholarship opportunities such as those from state governments, schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, and professional organizations.
    (C) Analyze and compare student grant options.
    (D) Analyze and compare student loan options, including private and federal loans.
    (E) Research and evaluate various work-study program opportunities.
    (F) Investigate nontraditional methods of paying for college or postsecondary education and training.

In Unit #4 students will explore the world of work.  They will learn the process of choosing
a career and finding a job.  Students will examine their possible career choices, and the steps
needed to become qualified for careers in those fields.  They will develop a job outlook analysis
for their chosen fields.  Students will focus on education and training beyond high school.  They
will investigate ways to select the best training available to them.  The class will learn what to
look for when choosing what type of training they will need and what to consider when selecting
a school or institute to attend.  They will examine job and market trends to determine their
employability upon completion of their training.  Students will also research ways to finance
their education and training.  The class will also determine the cost of their education and/or
training at the specific institution they plan to attend.  They will learn how to apply for
scholarships, grants, and other kinds of financial aid.  The class will create individual resumes,
complete job applications, and other tasks related to finding and beginning a new job.  Students
will have an opportunity to practice a job interview and learn about the employment process.
